Abstract

The text addresses the legislative and case law approach in Brazil concerning children as vulnerable consumers in the consumer market. It assumes that vulnerability is an additional burden to the professional risk of suppliers, who have in such population segment – children – their target market. By focusing on precedents from the Superior Court of Justice, this article deals with two relevant aspects to the study of such theme: the lack of clarity in understanding the effects of children vulnerability causes to them being treated as consumers, and the special framework established by the Consumer Protection Code for the case of children in the consumer market.
