Abstract

The present work aims to do investigate the concept of anonymity on the internet and its legal protection. After understanding the devaluation in which online anonymity has gone through during the internet evolution, judicial decisions and international initiatives are analyzed through the inductive methodological approach to verify anonymity’s protection by the Law. The configuration of the right to online anonymity is a consequence of this, which, under the cloak of the right to privacy, assumes certain relevant dogmatic outlines to the Brazilian legal experience, where its protection is confirmed despite the 1988 Federal Constitution’s ban on anonymous speech.
