Abstract

This article analyses the adequate cause theory in German Private law. It describes the main theoretical formulations of the adequate cause theory and German case law concerning the subject. It discusses the distinction between haftungsbegründende Kausalität and haftungsausfüllende Kausalität poiting out possible theoretical contributions to Brazilian Private law.
