The paper analyses historical relationships between University of São Paulo Law School and University of Coimbra Law School, on the occasion of University of São Paulo Law School’s 190th birthday. It does so by focusing on prominent figures in the building process of Brazilian legal education and Brazilian civil law, revisiting certain key moments in its formation.
