Abstract

In short, the article discusses the different forms of authorization by authors for the reproduction of their works. Based on international conventions and government regulations, the reproduction of a work is one of the main rights granted to authors. Reproduction without permission is illegal – even in the online environment. Initially, the article exposes the licenses for use, formatted by different contractual structures, which appear as a traditional mechanism for remunerating the author of the work for its use. With regard to the digital environment, copyright and copyleft tools, new forms of reproduction, such as collective digital licenses used by Netflix, Amazon and other companies, and collective management of digital rights are indicated. Finally, the new private copy systems are specified, subject to fair remuneration to authors, in force in Europe and in many Ibero-American countries, as well as the recent amendments established by the Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market, regarding the remuneration of press editors by service providers.
